I am a big believer in living a low-waste lifestyle, and the holiday season is full of excess waste. Piles and piles of gift wrap, foam, bubble wrap – it’s a lot. Gift wrap may seem like a really small thing, but small things add up to big things. So today I am showing you a quick, easy and cute wrapping idea using paper grocery bags! We have too many of these laying around the house from the time when the grocery store wouldn’t let us use our own bags (#thankscovid) and I was excited to find a way to use them.

You will need:

  1. A paper grocery bag
  2. A box with your gift inside
  3. Tape
  4. Scissors
  5. Ribbon
  6. A marker or brush pen

Essentially you are going to cut the bag in half, cut out the bottom, and trim it to size. Then you’ll wrap it like you are using wrapping paper. The paper is thick and may require a little extra tape.I recommend gift tape, not the regular scotch tape. You’ll see me fumbling with hat in the video 🙂

To make your package extra cute top it off with a hand lettered Christmas phrase:

  • Merry & Bright
  • Very Merry
  • Ho Ho Ho
  • Cheers
  • Holly Jolly

You can also add ribbon, a jingle bell, a dried orange, and/or a sprig of greenery! Simple things really do dress up a present and make it extra special.

How do you wrap your gifts? Do you choose a theme or use what you have laying around? I am a sucker for a theme, but also love getting creative with what I have!

Happy wrapping!
