It isn’t very often I am contacted for a special piece like a birth announcement, which is why I was thrilled when Carol Ann contacted me about creating one for her sweet baby girl’s nursery. Of course, I am extra sentimental about babies these days seeing as I am cooking one of my own, but I absolutely loved creating this based off of their nursery colors.
The nursery was already all set up by the time she contacted me (and she was still patiently awaiting baby’s arrival) – so I was sent pictures of the room to help guide my decision making on ink colors and design. It was decorated in mostly grays and pinks, with touches of gold here and there, so those are the colors I decided to run with!
Here’s how it turned out:

There was already some other artwork in the room with modern lettering, so I decided to go with an upright and bouncy style instead of something more formal. I also think that it keeps it more youthful for a baby’s room. I mixed up a gray, gold and a pink that I thought complimented each other nicely and got to work! At the end I did a few final touches with a Micron pen to pop the banner and flourish out a bit from the page and make them look a little more polished.
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Now I’m feeling the pressure to create one of these for my son once he arrives… 🙂
