The spring is a time of transition for most of us. We clean out our closets, set goals, try and work out once and a while instead of huddling indoors and eating all of the things (because winter doom and gloom is REAL folks – especially in grey Michigan). 

This spring I have been undergoing some real evaluation of my values and priorities both in the everyday and long term. Things have been feeling a little dissonant as I manage running my own little calligraphy business, plan amazing weddings with Take a Seat Events AND hold on to my full time event planning job at the University of Michigan. It’s been a lot of work to do *all the things* and still be a good partner to my husband, a good friend and get a full night’s sleep. And I LOVE to sleep. 

So, I decided to take a giant leap. This July, I will be leaving my full time gig at U-M and going full time with M.B. Calligraphy and Take a Seat Events. EEK! Planning and designing beautiful events and spaces is my passion – and I’m so excited to commit my 9-5 to celebrating the love of couples taking the step to tie the knot. The world could use a whole lot more celebration of love in my opinion, and I can’t wait to invest even more of my time and energy into making those occasions beautiful, special and unique. I’ve got big dreams to invest back into my community the way it has invested and me and build a business that gives back in big ways.

I thought that this giant leap would be scarier since we will literally be cutting our household income in half (*gasp*) and living on a shoe string for a while, but I have never felt more at peace. My intuition is telling me that this is the perfect season for change and investing in myself and my dreams.

It has been a slow and steady process building my little calligraphy business, and it is just the beginning.
