Hi! I’m Meg Bosse! And yes, that last name is pronounced “bossy.” I am a calligrapher and hand letterer located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I started my career in the event planning industry for my alma mater, The University of Michigan. My love for creating unique and personal details for each of my events led me on the journey to learn pointed pen calligraphy. I started by taking an online course in modern calligraphy and was hooked! I then invested in several in person classes focusing on Copperplate, Engrosser’s Script and Spencerian.
I am the mama to two kiddos – Otto Riley (2 years old- born February 2018) and Margot Kate (born in April 2020) and have the cutest rescue dog & cat – Stella & Sneak. I am grateful to own a business I can operate out of my home so thatI can spend more quality time with my kids. I’m a true believer in creating and cultivating a life that you love – and for me that includes both my passion for owning my own business, calligraphy, and being a mama.
For those of you Meyers-Briggs lovers out there, I’m an ESFJ-T, meaning I love to socialize, create deep and lasting connections with others and love to find ways to empower my friends and community. That said, I’d love to hear more about YOU and your wedding vision. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can set up a time to chat!
“The letter we all love to receive is one that carries so much of the writer’s personality that she seems to be sitting beside us, looking at us directly and talking just as she really would, could she have come on a magic carpet, instead of sending her proxy in ink-made characters on mere paper.”
A touch of classic and a dash of modern. Always timeless.
A few other fun facts:
I received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Michigan – my major was Theatre Design & Production and I wanted to be a Broadway Stage Manager!
My first calligraphy class was in 2014. I took an online Modern Calligraphy class with the amazing Molly Jacques. I’ve been hooked ever since!
I am also a wedding planner and designer with Ines & Marie Events. I absolutely love event planning and am so grateful that I get to have two amazing careers with such inspiring women!
My husband Karl and I were in a skeeball league when we lived in Brooklyn, NY. Team name: Brew Kids on the Block. My roller name: Megatron.
I’m a huge Michigan Wolverines fan. GO BLUE!
I am ALWAYS on time. Or early. Really early. And I seem to make friends with people who are always late.
I’m a podcast junkie. I go over some of my favorites in a blog post HERE!
“Meg was fantastic! She was very responsive and flexible to all of our requests and questions! Definitely one of the best vendors we worked with during the wedding planning process! We loved all of our calligraphy and got a ton of compliments from our guests!”
“Meg not only produces beautiful, quality work, but she is incredible to work with as well! Meg created a welcome sign mirror and escort cards for my wedding and they turned out PERFECT. You tell her what you want and she delivers. Meg is also very responsive to any questions and is very accommodating, I requested several last minute changes and she executed them perfectly.”
“We recently used MB Calligraphy for our wedding invitations and couldn’t have been happier with how they turned out! Meg was great to work with, quick to respond and answer questions that I had. Also had some creative ideas for how to do our envelopes using white ink on black. Looking forward to mailing them out.”
“We recently used M.B. Calligraphy for our wedding invitations as well as escort cards, and they turned out absolutely FABULOUSLY! We had a black tie wedding and wanted a classic look with a modern twist, and Meg was incredibly helpful and responsive as we sent all kinds of things her way—super-quick turnarounds, colorful escort cards, a need for each meal to be specified…and she could not have been more generous with her skills, knowledge, and expertise in general even beyond the gorgeous calligraphic work. Everything came back to us in perfect shape, on time, and looking beautiful—we got so many compliments! I can’t recommend Meg highly enough. She will make this part of the process feel like a breeze, and that is magic for anyone in the midst of planning a wedding. Thank you, Meg, for helping make the day look so beautiful and feel so special!! Note: we are located in DC, and Meg was always super available to us despite the distance—so don’t let distance stand in the way of contracting with this wonderful human being and talented artist!”

“I sought out Meg for a very special Valentine’s present for my newlywed husband. She kept in contact every step of the way and let me know ahead of time of any changes that might need to be made to accommodate my wish. The work was gorgeous (from what I could see over FaceTime), and my husband absolutely loved this special gift.
Thank you, Meg, so much for your help.”
